Parents with Teens
Coordinating diabetes management for your teenager is a lot different than it is for a younger child. While you still need to be very involved with your teen's care, it's time to begin to shift responsibilities and find the right balance between parental monitoring and teen independence. While it's important to provide your teen with as much support and information as you can, it's also time to start letting go and allowing your teen learn to be responsible for their own health.
You can help your teen during this transition by equipping him or her with the tools and resources he or she needs to make informed and responsible decisions.
